I actually did it! Yay me!  I shut off all distractions and you’re not going to believe what I got accomplished.  Check it out.  Now I admit, I did cheat and check out Twitter and G+ a couple of times after fixing a fresh cup of coffee for a little breather.  You’ll have to cut me a little slack here I was on a marathon session of “holy shit I have to get productive” and took only a few very short lookeyloo’s at what was up on the social interwebs before getting right back to it.  So, anyway keep reading and you’ll see what an “oh shit” motivation moment can help you achieve.

First I set up a crazy spreadsheet on Google Docs that is driving Sarah nuts.

I’m a list maker, I make master lists for my lists. I love to be organized but sometimes it drives my business partner a little bit nuts.

For Ka-boom-it.com

Uninstalled WpMU on this site and re-installed just plain old WP, the comment system wasn’t working ..( don’t even remember why I had MU on here anyway )

Unfortunately, I wiped a huge site we had built for revenue sharing by mistake like an idiot. Looking at the bright side, I needed to revamp the site anyway so, life goes on.

Wow!  I’d say I’m off to a good start.  (patting myself on the back)

You know, I’m a regular person just like you.  I have kids and family issues and things that keep me from working.  I’ll give you a taste of my happy life, lol.

My oldest son was diagnosed with Crohns Disease two years ago.  He recently took a turn for the worse and weighs only 142 lbs at six foot two inches tall.  His specialist wants to start him on a really scary medication that has atrocious side effects.  I convinced him to try a specific diet.

The only thing is, he’s 19 years old.  What kid is going to cook well for himself? Especially a complicated grain free diet.  So I’m cooking every morsel of food he puts in his mouth from scratch.  We’re talking grinding almonds to make flour and baking his bread.  Making catsup and mayonnaise and having my father (a butcher) create a hot dog that he can eat.

Is it a pain in the ass? Absolutely! But, what would you do for the life and health of your child?

I also have a 14 year old and 18 year old.  The 14 year old is a freshman and is determined to be Valedictorian of his class so he’s just a little bit anal about his homework.  That’s fantastic except he wants me to check every thing he does to make sure it’s right.

The 18 year old just moved back home and is out of work so we’re making flyers for general labor around town and filling out every application we can find for him.

What I’m saying is, if I can do this anyone can.  Everyone has struggles in their lives and distractions.  You can either us those as excuses or you can use them as motivation to do what needs to be done, no matter what.

Do I expect immediate results? No.  But I do expect that in the coming weeks I’ll benefit from the work I’ve done this week and continue to build on it.  I kind of just had to shake myself out of the rut I’ve been in I guess.  It happens to the best of us.

If you’re a procrastinator or just can’t seem to focus on getting anything done for your business, please make yourself a personal challenge to set goals and try to achieve them.  Post it somewhere so people can see it and you’ll have to at least try to achieve them.  Tweet me @Camyden and we’ll talk productivity or lament raising teenagers.

What can you get accomplished if you block out all distractions?
